KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi has proposed the name of a new country to host the Asia Cup.
The final decision regarding the holding of the Asia Cup in Pakistan is expected today. The hosting of this event was given to Pakistan a long time ago, but when the time of the event approached, India not only refused to send its team to Pakistan but also the Asian event itself. It was also announced that it will be held in another country.

After India’s announcement, Chairman PCB Najam Sethi proposed a hybrid model to save the host, under which all other teams’ matches would be played in Pakistan while India’s matches were to be held in UAE. BCCI rejected this proposal. However, another suggestion was made to move the first few matches to Pakistan and the rest to the UAE.
However, now Najam Sethi has suggested holding the Asia Cup in England. On the other hand, the Asian Cricket Council’s decision regarding the holding of the Asian Showpiece event in Pakistan is expected on Monday. If they don’t play, they will organize a 5-nation tournament in Sri Lanka without it.
