Sleep is very important for a healthy life, but here the question arises how many hours a person should sleep at night? So the answer is that the duration of sleep should neither be too much nor too little, this thing should be taken care of at least in middle age and old age.
A new study found that 7 hours of sleep is the ideal length of a night’s rest, while too little and too much sleep can have negative effects on abilities like concentration, memory, learning, problem-solving, and decision-making.
A study conducted by China’s Fudan University reported that 7 hours of sleep also improves the mental health of people who are experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
In contrast, those who slept longer or shorter reported worse symptoms. Professor Jianfeng Feng of Fudan University, who is part of the research team, said that although we cannot definitively say that too little or too much sleep is the cause of mental illness, our analysis definitely suggests that it is.

Brain scans of 48,500 people were also done and all the data helped to understand how sleep duration affects different aspects of mental health. Research has shown a link between too little or too much sleep and mental problems, but has not shed light on cause and effect.
According to the researchers, the results indicate that sleep is very important for us and that 7 hours of continuous sleep is ideal for health. He said that a good night’s sleep is important for all ages, but its importance increases with age.
