LAHORE: Heavy fog has covered parts of Punjab, including the provincial capital on the night between Friday and Saturday.
According to details, heavy fog has led to the closure of the Lahore-Pindi Bhattian Motorway M2 and Multan-Khanewal Motorway sections. Heavy fog also disturbed traffic in Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sadiqabad and their surrounding areas as visibility was very low.
The Motorway police suggested the drivers open fog lights while driving at slow speed. Police have also asked people to avoid unnecessary traveling as visibility was down. Karachi experienced extremely cold weather today’s morning as the temperature reached a minimum of 5.8 degrees Celsius.
The Met Office said that Karachi is currently experiencing cold Siberian winds. The speed of winds can increase on Sunday. Snowfall is also recorded in Malam Jabba during this period.

Last year, the motorway was closed as thick fog engulfed most cities in most parts of Punjab leaving visibility at a low. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) recorded a temperature of 2°C in Lahore. The motorway was closed and flights cancelled as Punjab was hit by thick fog.
