The MRI machine recently stolen from Ayub Teaching Hospital in Abbottabad has reportedly been brought to Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital in Karachi.
A Facebook post claims that an MRI machine was unloaded at Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital Karachi at 5 p.m. on December 26, 2024, while the loading vehicle arrived from Abbottabad. The post further alleges that the unloaded MRI machine is now located in the northern part of the hospital.
In the comments, users are demanding a thorough investigation into the matter.
It should be noted that a bizarre incident was reported at Ayub Teaching Hospital in Abbottabad on January 3, where an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine was discovered missing. The machine, which requires a specially equipped room for installation, was found to be missing from the hospital’s complex.
The hospital management has yet to provide a clear explanation for the disappearance, leaving many questions unanswered. In response, the Standing Committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has taken swift action, calling on hospital officials to provide clarification.
However, the hospital’s senior management failed to attend the committee’s meeting, raising suspicions. Concerns are growing that the case may involve corruption, with claims that the MRI machine was never actually procured but was listed in official records.
MRI technology is a non-invasive diagnostic tool used to produce detailed 3D images of the body’s internal structures. It plays a crucial role in detecting diseases, diagnosing conditions, and monitoring treatments.
It should be noted that Ayub Teaching Hospital is the only health facility of its kind in the region, catering to a large number of people from more than 10 districts.
