Prominent Pakistani journalist and television anchor Hamid Mir has vehemently criticized the Islamabad police for their brutal crackdown on Baloch activists during a recent protest rally.
Taking to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Mir issued a powerful statement reminding those wielding the power of guns that the hearts of Balochistan’s mothers, sisters, and daughters are brimming with resentment.

Mir found himself at the heart of the turmoil as he was covering the Baloch Unity protest rally, which was abruptly disrupted by the police who resorted to baton charges against women and children, leading to multiple arrests. Mir, in an act of defiance, intervened to prevent police abuse against women, only to face mistreatment himself.

In the aftermath of the incident, a hashtag trend surfaced on X in support of Mir, drawing praise from individuals across various walks of life who commended his courage and denounced the police’s reprehensible behavior towards both him and the Balochi women and children. The incident has sparked a broader conversation about the need for respect and protection of the rights of activists, particularly those hailing from marginalized communities.
This is the reason why Hamid Mir is always my inspiration, he is not only a sharp journalist although he is a great human being and always takes stand against cruelty on civilians.
