KARACHI: The Green Line bus service has become fully operational from today (Monday), providing a modern means of transport for residents of Karachi.
According to details, 80 buses will cover a track of 21 kilometers and will be operational for sixteen hours daily from 6 AM till 10 PM. There are 22 bus stations which have been completed.
The administration said a bus will arrive at the station after every three minutes. The door of the bus will remain open for the passengers for 20 seconds at every station.
The bus service will start from KESC Powerhouse Chowrangi in Surjani Town and terminate at Municipal park after passing through Nagan Chowrangi, North Nazimabad, Nazimabad and Gurumandir.
The bus service is expected to cater to 300,000 passengers on a daily basis. Another three stations to extend the service to Municipal Park are yet to be completed.
The project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan on December 10, 2021. The Green Line bus service will finally provide its services for citizens after suffering delays for the past couple of years.
Passengers can avail the bus service from 11 stations built in Surjani, Abdullah Chowk, Do Minute Chowrangi, Power House, Nagan Chowrangi, Jumma Bazar, Haideri, Board Office, Nazimabad Number One, Sanitary Market and Numaish.
Passengers will be able to board buses and get off them at bus stations built every two kilometres along the route. The fare of the bus service will range from Rs15 to Rs55 per ticket.
