Islamabad: The government has decided to collect Rs1.1 million per person under the official Hajj scheme.
According to details, the Hajj Policy 2024 has been sent to the Federal Cabinet for approval and it has been decided to continue the sponsorship scheme next year to reduce the dollar burden.
28 million dollars will be spent on the upcoming Hajj and 10,000 pilgrims will be able to perform Hajj under the sponsorship scheme.
In the sponsorship scheme, the amount of Hajj expenses will be received in dollars while the Hajj quota of Pakistan for 2024 Hajj is 179,210.
It is pertinent to mention here that the caretaker government had announced two months ago that a short-term Hajj scheme would be introduced for Hajj 2024, under which a pilgrim will have to stay about 20 days in Makkah and Medina while the cost of this short-term Hajj scheme will also be less, however, the government has yet to announce the cost of this newly introduced scheme.
It should be noted that in the general Hajj scheme, a Pakistani pilgrim stays in the two holy cities of Saudi Arabia for more than 40 days. Â
