A notification circulating on social media claiming that the government of Pakistan has increased the retirement age of federal employees from 60 to 63 years has been confirmed as fake.
Officials have dismissed the document as baseless and urged the public and government employees to rely only on verified sources and official gazette notifications.
The viral document, issued in the name of the Establishment Division, claims that the Government of Pakistan has decided to grant a three-year extension to all federal government employees, effective from January 1, 2026.
Official sources have termed the notification fake and baseless. The viral document carries a fake Khyber Pakhtunkhwa logo, the title “Ministry of Pakistan, Islamabad,” and forged signatures attributed to “Shakeel Qadeer Khan, Chief Secretary, Ministry of Pakistan.”
The fake notification also includes fabricated reference numbers of the Finance Division and the Establishment Division. In reality, no such notification has been issued, nor has any formal approval been granted by either the Finance Division or the Establishment Division regarding an increase in the retirement age.
Officials said similar fake news and notifications have circulated on social media in the past, aimed at creating confusion and uncertainty among the public and government employees.
