ISLAMABAD: The balloting for the Government Hajj Scheme, scheduled to take place today (Wednesday) has been postponed. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony confirmed the news, stating that a new date for the balloting will be announced later.
Interestingly, the federal government recently extended the date for receiving applications under the regular Hajj scheme until Sunday, while the date for the sponsorship Hajj scheme was extended until April 9th. This decision provided more time for people to apply for the Hajj scheme.
There were earlier reports that the federal government is considering sending all Hajj applicants to the holy land for performing the Islamic ritual this year without any balloting. However, no official announcement has been made regarding this yet.
The postponement of the balloting has caused uncertainty among the people who had applied for the Government Hajj Scheme. They are now waiting for the announcement of the new date to see if they have been selected for the Hajj pilgrimage this year.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has assured the public that the new date for the balloting will be announced at the earliest possible time.
