The latest global internet speed rankings have been released by the World Population Review, offering a snapshot of how countries around the world fare in terms of mobile and broadband internet speeds.
The rankings highlight significant disparities in internet access and performance across different regions, with technological advancements expected to improve speeds in some countries in the coming years.
At the top of the list, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) emerges as the global leader in both mobile and broadband internet speeds. The UAE is followed closely by Singapore, which holds the second spot for mobile internet speed, and Qatar, which leads in broadband speeds. Hong Kong and Chile round out the top five for mobile internet speed rankings.
Pakistan, however, lags far behind, ranking 198th globally in internet speed. The country’s average mobile internet download speed is 19.59 Mbps, while its broadband speed averages 15.52 Mbps. This places Pakistan below several countries, including Palestine, Bhutan, Ghana, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, and Libya. Despite this, the report predicts that advancements in technology could help improve Pakistan’s internet speeds in the near future.
As Pakistan struggles with slow and intermittent internet connections, the government and industry leaders are working to address the issues, with expectations for improvements in the coming months. However, many users continue to face difficulties in browsing, downloading, and sharing media, particularly on platforms like WhatsApp, where delays in sending images and videos are common.
