WASHINGTON: As the global death toll of COVID-19 surpasses 398,000, the spread of the virus continues to accelerate in parts of the world.
Around the world, the pandemic has killed more than 398,244 people and infected over 6,850,274. The United States has been the hardest-hit country, with 1,965,708 cases and 111,390 deaths.
According to the latest data, 3,351,249 patients have recovered from the pandemic so far.

Spain has recorded 27,134 fatalities and 288,058 infections.
The United Kingdom has reported 40,261 fatalities and 283,311 infections.
India has reported 236,657 cases while 6,649 deaths due to the coronavirus.
Italy, which recorded its first coronavirus death at the end of February, has 33,774 fatalities, while 234,531 infections.
Germany has reported 8,763 deaths and 185,414 infections.
Turkey reported 168,340 coronavirus cases and 4,648 fatalities.
France has reported 29,111 deaths, and 153,055 cases. China has to date declared 4,634 deaths and 83,030 cases, with 78,329 recoveries.
In Belgium, 9,566 people succumbed to the disease while reported 58,907 cases due to the coronavirus.
Mexico has reported 13,170 deaths with over 1,000 deaths in the last 24 hours and 110,026 cases. Canada reported 7,703 fatalities and 94,335 infections due to coronavirus.
