Global coronavirus death toll crosses 1,012,000

WASHINGTON: Coronavirus has killed 1,012,659 people worldwide and infected 33,844,178.

Around the world, 251,48,264 people were infected with coronavirus and the number of active cases is 76,43,053. The first death from the coronavirus was reported on 11th January 2020 in China. On 9th April, the total death toll from the coronavirus rose to 100,000.

The United States ranks first among the countries infected with the coronavirus, with 210,785 people dying and more than 7.461 million being diagnosed with the coronavirus.

India ranks second in the world in terms of coronavirus cases where the total number of coronavirus cases has increased from 6.225 million. The total number of deaths from coronavirus in India has reached 97,529.

Brazil ranks third among the countries affected by coronavirus, with 4.78 million people affected and 143,010 deaths. In Russia, more than 1,167,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus, bringing the total death toll to 20,545.

Colombia is the fifth most affected country by the coronavirus, with 25,828 deaths and more than 824,000 reported cases.

In Peru, more than 800,000 to 11,000 people have been affected, while 32,396 people have lost their lives. More than 758,000 people have been affected in Spain and 31,614 have died.
