Gas supply has been disrupted in several areas after an 18-inch-diameter gas pipeline was damaged in Balochistan’s Bolan district.
According to Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), gas supplies to Mastung, Pishin, Kalat and Mach have been suspended following the destruction of the pipeline.
Gas pressure has also been affected in some areas of Quetta, causing difficulties for households, particularly for women trying to prepare meals.
SSGC has not yet provided details on the cause of the pipeline damage or when gas supplies are expected to be fully restored.
Earlier this year, an 18-inch diameter main gas pipeline was blown up by explosives in the Akhtarabad area along the Western Bypass near Quetta, suspending supplies to Quetta and multiple surrounding districts.
It should be noted that gas pipeline attacks in Balochistan are frequent acts of sabotage by separatist groups like the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) targeting energy infrastructure. These blasts disrupt fuel supplies to major cities, worsen national energy crises, and are used by insurgents to protest resource exploitation.
