Karachi: The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has clarified reports of gas leakage complaints from several parts of the city, saying the issue was linked to testing work on a new pipeline rather than any actual leak.
According to the company’s spokesperson, the new pipeline on Abu-ul-Hassan Isfahani Road was tested yesterday, during which a large quantity of gas odor-producing substance was added. This, the spokesperson said, led to complaints of gas smell being reported from different areas of Karachi.
The spokesperson maintained that all system pressures remain normal and no gas leakage has been reported. The odor, it added, was only caused by chemicals used during the testing process.
Consumers have been urged to continue their routine activities without concern.
