Four newly elected independent members of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly have joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), strengthening the party’s position in the regional legislature.

The announcement was made following a meeting with Federal Minister and IPP leader Aliem Khan, during which the lawmakers formally declared their affiliation with the party.

The newly inducted members include Muhammad Dilpazir from GBA-15 Diamer, Aman Ali from GBA-21 Ghizer III, Anwar Ali from GBA-23 Ghanche, and Asad Shafiq from GB-24 Ghanche III.

Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Dilpazir said that all four independent members had collectively decided to join the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party as a group. He added that discussions were also underway with other independent lawmakers as well as representatives of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM).

Mr Dilpazir stated that efforts would continue to encourage additional members to join the party, expressing confidence that the IPP would emerge as the second-largest political force in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly.

The development is expected to influence the evolving political landscape in Gilgit-Baltistan as parties seek to consolidate support following the assembly elections.
