The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raided the Islamabad call centre, where 50 more foreigners were detained on Sunday in an ongoing crackdown on illegal calls, online visa violations and blackmail activities.
According to Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), the suspects were hiding in a multi-storey building in Islamabad’s Gulberg Greens area. During the FIA raid, the police arrested them and transferred them to jail.
The major raid was at Sparco Plaza in Gulberg Greens, where approximately 258 foreigners were arrested over alleged violations of authorised visa purposes.
NCCIA also detained 114 people over online fraud activities; under legal orders, more than 370 foreigners were granted 14-day judicial remand.
The detentions subsequently occurred during three separate operations in Islamabad between August 13 and 21.
The suspects were allegedly committing online fraud, blackmailing people abroad and explicitly generating money through sexually explicit content.
