The Pakistani rupee recorded a slight improvement against the US dollar in the inter-bank market on Wednesday.
By the close of trading, the local currency settled at 278.56 per dollar, posting a marginal gain of Rs0.01 compared to the greenback.
On Tuesday, the rupee had closed at 278.57.
Meanwhile, the US dollar remained firm near a six-week high as investors weighed the possibility of prolonged higher interest rates to curb inflation amid concerns linked to the Iran conflict.
The euro traded at $1.1608 after slipping to its weakest level since April 8 in the previous session, while the British pound stood at $1.3398, close to a six-week low reached earlier this week.
Among commodity-linked currencies, the Australian dollar, often viewed as an indicator of market risk appetite, declined 0.14% to $0.7097, while the New Zealand dollar dropped 0.24% to $0.5822.
