LAHORE: The price of flour has been increased all over Punjab by Rs50 per bag in the retail market.
As per the new price, the price of 20kg of flour in Lahore has reached Rs975 after an increase of Rs 50.
According to Lahore Atta Dealers Association, the price of wheat has been on the rise and reached Rs1800 per 40kg. Such a high price of grain necessitated an upward revision of flour price.
Since last month, there has been a surge of Rs170 per bag or 21 percent in the price of flour, which is a staple food in this part of the world. The flour price was magnified by all the millers and it will be applicable earlier from Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the price of fine ‘atta’ has also been increased to Rs4700 per 84kg bag, showing an increase of Rs300. The price of ‘suji’ or semolina was also hiked to Rs2850 per 50kg bag from Rs2650.
Moreover, the owners of tandoors had given the government an ultimatum to increase the price of bread as the issue of supply of subsidised flour has not been resolved despite negotiations between flour mill owners and the food department.
