First KCR train to Orangi railway station starts today

KARACHI: The second phase of the Karachi Circular Railway has been completed and a train will run from Karachi City station to Orangi railway station.

The trial run of a KCR train commenced from the City station to Orangi. This portion of the track was not operational earlier due to various technical and other issues.

The train will pass through Manghopir, SITE, Shah Latif, Baldia, Lyari, and Wazir Mansion stations to City railway station. The train will then run towards Dhabeji on its already operational route. KCR 2 Down train will reach Orangi at 10:10AM.

Each train will run with five coaches having a seating capacity for 500 passengers and 30 rupees fare. There are eight stations and 12 gates on the 14 kilometre track from City Station to Orangi. 

DS Karachi Mohammad Hanif Gul and KCR Project Director Amir Mohammad Daud Pota traveled on KCR 2 Down this morning. The journey was made by Muhammad Hanif Gul along with the concerned officers from City Station to Orangi.  The officials have expressed satisfaction over the completion of the second phase of the KCR project.
