In a tragic incident in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a father has been arrested for drowning his two newborn daughters in a water drum.
The accused, identified as a resident of Mianwali working in a nearby village, confessed to the heinous crime, revealing a shocking motive driven by a desire for a male child.
According to police reports, the man, who expressed his dissatisfaction with having daughters, drowned the twin girls in a water drum. The newborns perished as water filled their lungs. After committing the crime, the father buried the girls and threatened his wife with divorce and death if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
The police were alerted to the crime through a tip-off and acted swiftly. The accused has been taken into custody, and legal action is underway. With a court order, the graves of the deceased twins were exhumed, and their bodies were sent for a post-mortem examination.
The post-mortem report confirmed that the cause of death was drowning, with water found in the girls’ lungs. The authorities have vowed to ensure that the perpetrator faces severe punishment for his heartless actions.
