KARACHI: A massive scandal has surfaced within the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), involving the alleged fake allotment of commercial and residential plots worth Rs 1 billion, illegal transfers of ownership, and tampering of official records.
The revelations have sparked outrage, prompting the Director General (DG) of KDA to express deep anger and immediately form a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the matter.
According to media reports,, the inquiry will focus on eight valuable plots across some of Karachi’s most sought-after localities, including Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Surjani Town, FB Area, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The plots under investigation are:
– Gulistan-e-Jauhar Scheme 36: Plot SB-02
– Block 6: Plots B-70 and A-104
– Block 7: Plot B-159
– Surjani Town Sector 11-A: Plot SB-157
– Surjani Town Sector 6-C: Plot SB-155
– FB Area Block 7: Plot BS-57
– Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 10: Plot ST-8/5
The Director of Land Management has been directed to seal the records of these plots immediately and submit a detailed investigation report within 15 days.
Sources reveal that the inquiry will thoroughly examine:
– The allotment and lease history of the plots
– Ownership records and any illegal transfers
– Alterations in official documents
– The current ownership and occupancy status of each plot
If any irregularities or manipulation of records are discovered, the responsible officials will be identified, and strict action will be recommended against them.
MM News has learnt that a particularly serious allegation involves a commercial plot of over 875 yards in Surjani Town, which was reportedly illegally transferred through a bogus file and fake auction. This case has been included in the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, it has also been learnt that while the KDA has initiated an internal inquiry, some senior KDA officers have raised concerns about the Land Department’s ability to conduct an impartial investigation.
These officers have demanded that the case be handed over to independent anti-corruption bodies such as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to ensure transparency and accountability.
