Fake accounts case: CM Sindh fails to appear before NAB

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday skipped the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) appearance in the fake bank accounts case.
According to the NAB, the team from Rawalpindi had not arrived in Karachi to interrogate the chief minister. However, he had been directed to appear by the Karachi bureau today.
A joint investigation team was also prepared to investigate Murad Ali Shah. He was summoned by the agency earlier as well and had submitted replies to NAB queries.
It is to be noted that the NAB had already filed reference against six suspects including former president Asif Ali Zardari in these cases.
Earlier, Murad Ali Shah addressed media in Karachi and maintained that he received the NAB letter night before yesterday, and details would only be revealed when a questionnaire will be handed over to him.
According to the statement of NAB, it has summoned Sindh chief minister over the Joint Investigation Team’s (JIT) report into the fake account case.
Regarding the case, the source revealed that when Shah was the Sindh finance minister, subsidies were given to certain sugar mills including “closed” Thatta Sugar Mills, Dadu Sugar Mills, etc.
Earlier in August, the accountability bureau claimed to have recovered over Rs13 billion in fake bank accounts scandal case.
