LAHORE: Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed has said that the railway employees will get their salaries despite the shutdown of train services.
While addressing a press conference in Lahore today, Sheikh Rasheed said that around 20 to 22 trains will be made functional as soon as the lockdown is lifted. He also said that he doubted that the lockdown will not end on 14th April.
He also lamented that the railway department is bearing a deficit of Rs. 1 billion every month due to suspension of services. “We have made quarantine gates on every railway station,” he said.
Speaking on the issue of a report on sugar and wheat crisis, he said that the report and its forensic should have been released together. Earlier, he said such crises reports had sidelined novel coronavirus emergency.
The federal minister asserted that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)’s investigation report over the sugar and flour crises was released before time and it was better if it would have been issued on 25th April. He said he was confident that culprits will be punished after the forensic reports.
He further said that it is now Prime Minister Imran Khan’s decision as to whether he will take action against those who are held responsible in the sugar, wheat crises or not.
