LOS ANGLES: Emma Watson’s fans may take a sigh of relief as her manager has quashed rumours of the actress retiring from acting anytime soon.
The Harry Potter star, 30, started trending because of an article in a British tabloid that suggested she would be retiring from acting in order to focus on settling down with her partner Leo Robinton. “Emma Watson has gone ‘dormant’ according to her agent,” the outlet reported. “That appears to be movie-speak for she’s given up acting.”
According to Jason Weinberg, Watson’s manager at Untitled Entertainment, that’s not the case. “Emma’s social media accounts are dormant but her career isn’t,” he told a media outlet in a statement.
She was last seen on screen in 2019 as Mg March in ‘Little Women’, directed by Greta Gerwig. The actress has maintained a very low profile ever since the release of the acclaimed film. This followed her performances in ‘The Circle’ and the live-action ‘Beauty and the Beast.’
Having been busy with movies since she was a child, Watson now appears to be focused on her personal life until the pandemic ends. Though the pandemic slowed down around the world, the actress has taken temporary leave from acting for a different reason. She has been dating her boyfriend for two years now.
The British actress has taken on new roles as a philanthropist, book club admin and UN Goodwill Ambassador. She is also reportedly on the board of directors for the parent company of Gucci and Balenciaga.
A tiny and delicate ring on her finger has triggered the engagement rumours also. However, there is no official confirmation of the two getting married.
