ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar has said the government launched the Ehsaas Digital Programme to facilitate women beneficiaries and prevent fraudulent activities in the disbursement of payment.

While briefing Prime Minister Imran Khan during his visit to an Ehsaas payment site in the federal capital Dr Sania this initiative will save women from visiting banks to get their amounts. Digital vaults have been provided from where beneficiaries can receive their payments as well as keep their cash, she said.

Dr Sania Nishtar said a grievance system has been integrated with the banks to promptly address any complaint, whereas a ‘next to the kin system’ has also been evolved in case of principal beneficiary’s death.

The authorities have increased the number of beneficiaries of the program from 4.3 million to seven million, she informed PM Imran.

She further briefed that they have resolved issues encountered in the Ehsaas Emergency Cash programme, making it fraud-proof.

She informed the PM that she personally participates in Radio Pakistan’s Raabta Programme to create awareness among the masses and listen to their issues.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on the occasion interacted with the Ehsaas beneficiaries and also inquired about the expansion of the program.

It is pertinent to mention that Prime Minister Imran Khan on November 14 gave a nod to increasing the number of Ehsaas Kafalat beneficiary families from 4.6 million to 7 million.

Presiding over a meeting, PM Imran had noted that people belonging to low-income segments were badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
