KARACHI: Egypt’s Karim Abdel Gawad continued to showcase his dominance at the Karachi Open Squash Championship 2022 as he moved into the semi-final stage along with fellow countrymen Omar Mosaad and Youssef Soliman.
Gawad won 3-1 against Hong Kong’s Henry Leung in the final match of the action-packed day. Earlier in the day, Omar Mosaad registered a comfortable straight-game win against Hong Kong’s Tsz Kwan Lau. Leonel Cardenas of Mexico managed to upset fourth seed Karim El Hammamy of Egypt 11-3, 11-9, 1-11, 11-9.
In the women’s event, Hong Kong’s Chan Sin Yuk continued her advance in the tournament after registering a win against Ka Yi Lee of Hong Kong. Lucy Beecroft of England caused an upset in her straight-game win against second seed Marie Stephan of France.
The semi-final stage of the Karachi Open Squash Championship 2022 is set for clashes between top-seed Karim Abdel Gawad and third seed Omar Mosaad of Egypt. In the second men’s semi-final, Leonel Cardenas of Mexico will be up against Youssef Soliman of Egypt.
Nour Aboulmakarim of Egypt will face Georgia Adderley of Scotland in the women’s semi-final while Chan Sin Yuk of Hong Kong will take on seventh-seed Lucy Beecroft of England in the other semi-final.
