ISLAMABAD: Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood has directed private schools not to increase fees more than the ratio allowed by the Supreme Court.
In a news conference on Friday, the minister told that complaints were received that private schools are illegally increasing the fee. He warned that strict action would be taken against the schools that do not follow the Supreme Court orders in this regard.
Shafqat Mahmood has asked all provincial governments to keep a check on private schools and practice their due authority in taking action against such institutions, which were violating the order of the supreme court.
Last year, the former chief justice Mian Saqib Nisar had ordered all private schools across Pakistan to cut down their fees by 20 percent. He ordered that a hike in fees above five percent would only be allowed with the permission of the regulator.
