ECC to approve Karachi Transformation Plan today

Hafeez Sheikh is among those shortlisted for caretaker PM: Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) will today approve the Karachi Transformation Plan in a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.

The ECC meeting is also likely to approve the issuance of $500 million for Mohmand and Diamer-Bhasha dams. According to sources, a six-point agenda will be considered in the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee.

A meeting chaired by Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh is also likely to approve a technical supplementary grant of Rs. 50 crore for the Ministry of Housing.

In the meeting, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs will present the matter of construction of new terminals on the basis of BOT to the committee. The loan issue of Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL)  will be considered.

The National Electrical Vehicle Policy was approved at the ECC meeting last week. According to the statement, the ECC has abolished the 4 percent withholding tax on locally-made mobile phones.

According to the announcement, a grant of Rs 219.3 million has been sanctioned for the newly constructed Isolation Hospital and Infections Treatment Center in Islamabad. The meeting approved a supplementary grant of Rs. 305.4 million for the contribution of the World Health Organization (WHO) of Pakistan and a supplementary grant of Rs. 106.7 million for the projects of the Islamabad administration.

According to the statement, the ECC approved a supplementary grant of Rs. 706.8 million for the victims of the tribal districts. A supplementary grant of Rs. 277.8 million was approved for annual contributions to international organizations
