Saudi Arabia’s Kingdom Tower is fast approaching completion to overtake Dubai’s Burj Khalifa as the world’s tallest building.
With a height of over one kilometer, the skyscraper will include corporate offices, residences, hotels, and the world’s tallest observatory.
A key aspect of the design is its three-petal design, which enhances wind dynamics and reduces wind loads. The tower will feature a dynamic elevator capable of traveling at speeds of up to 10 meters per second.
Guinness World Records confirms that Jeddah Tower, which is expected to be more than 1,000 meters (1 km; 3,281 ft) taller than the Burj Khalifa, could redefine the skyline once completed.
Construction of the skyscraper began in 2013, but was halted in 2018 following the arrest of Osama bin Laden’s half-brother Bakr bin Laden and the president of the contractor company Bin Laden Group during 2017-2019, while the corona pandemic resulted in I was further delayed.
The project, estimated to cost $1.2 billion, will be the centerpiece of a $20 billion mixed-use district on the Red Sea coast called Jeddah Economic City. Construction is slated to resume in September 2023. And the construction work is going on, the project is likely to be completed soon.
