Dubai has greenlit a groundbreaking venture: the construction of a Dh128 billion passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, meticulously reviewed the strategic blueprint of the Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects. Subsequently, he granted approval for the designs of the new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport, slated to become the world’s largest upon full operation.
Projected to be erected at a cost of Dh128 billion, this state-of-the-art terminal will significantly enhance the airport’s capacity to accommodate an annual influx of 260 million passengers.
The endorsement transpired during Sheikh Mohammed’s visit to the Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects, alongside Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
Sheikh Mohammed emphasized, “Today, we greenlighted the designs for the new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport, embarking on the construction of this landmark structure at a cost of Dh128 billion as part of Dubai Aviation Corporation’s strategic vision.”
“Al Maktoum International Airport is poised to attain unrivaled capacity, catering to up to 260 million passengers. Spanning five times the expanse of the current Dubai International Airport, it is slated to gradually assume all operational responsibilities from its counterpart in the ensuing years. Boasting 400 aircraft gates and five parallel runways, the airport will pioneer the integration of cutting-edge aviation technologies,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
