Dengue Cases Surge During October
The situation became particularly concerning in October, when 2,656 dengue cases were reported in the province during the month.
The latest figures highlight the continued spread of the virus and the importance of preventive measures to control mosquito breeding and protect public health.
How Can Dengue Be Prevented?
Dengue is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. Common symptoms include high fever, body aches and muscle pain. In severe cases, patients may develop skin rashes and complications involving bleeding.
Health experts recommend avoiding stagnant water in and around homes, regularly cleaning flowerpots and water containers, and keeping rubbish bins properly covered to prevent mosquito breeding.
People are also advised to wear full-sleeved clothing, use mosquito repellents and sleep under mosquito nets. Installing screens on doors and windows can help prevent mosquitoes from entering homes.
Maintaining cleanliness and using mosquito-killing sprays when necessary can further reduce the risk of dengue transmission.
