KABUL: A high level delegation from Pakistan led by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif arrived in Kabul on Wednesday. Director General, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), other high ranking officials are also part of the team that has arrived in Kabul to hold crucial talks following a spike in terror incidents in Pakistan which are believed to have their roots on Afghan soil.
According to reports gathered from Afghan media, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund met with the Pak delegation.
In this meeting, the parties discussed the promotion of bilateral relations, trade, regional links and economic cooperation between the two countries.Â
On this occasion, Baradar said that Afghanistan and Pakistan should have good relations as neighboring countries and urged enhanced trade and economic relations between the two countries. He also called to separate trade and economic issues from politics.
Baradar also called for the release of Afghan refugees who are currently in Pakistan prisons, and to facilitate the passage through Torkham and Spin Boldak gates of travelers, especially those seeking emergency medical care.
Afghan media reports said the Pakistan delegation pledged to solve the issues shared by the deputy PM, and said that the appointed committees and ministries will work on it immediately.
Pak officials said the country is committed to help Afghans rebuild Afghanistan, developing trade corridors, roads and other infrastructure, at the same time having strategic ties mutually beneficial to both the countries, region.
