KOHAT: Unknown persons opened fire on a customs vehicle near the Rawalpindi Interchange Toll Plaza, prompting an immediate response from police and rescue teams, officials said.
According to initial reports, one customs official was killed and another was seriously injured when the vehicle was targeted with bullets. The shots also reportedly caused the vehicle to catch fire, though emergency personnel arrived soon after the incident was reported.
With the support of rescue teams, the body of the deceased official and the injured officer were transported to DHQ Hospital. The deceased has been identified as Jawad, while the injured official has been identified as Basirullah.
Police officials said the fire was brought under control within a short time.
They added that an investigation into the incident has been initiated and that efforts are underway to trace those responsible, with the accused expected to be taken into custody soon.
