A distressing incident of harassment occurred on the streets of Orangi Town in Karachi, which went viral on the internet after being captured on CCTV footage.
In the video, a man on a motorcycle can be seen approaching a girl who was standing on a street corner. The man attempted to snatch her bag and subjected her to harassment before quickly fleeing the scene.
Upon the video’s circulation on social media, the police launched an investigation into the incident. While the footage suggested it might have been a snatching attempt, no one had reported the incident to the police at that time.
However, following the public outcry, the police managed to apprehend the culprit responsible for harassing the girl. The police recorded the victim’s statement, and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) West assured that strict action would be taken against the perpetrator.
Prior to this incident, another disturbing video had gone viral on social media, showing a man on a red motorcycle sexually assaulting a woman in the Gulistan-e-Johar area. Such incidents highlight the need for increased vigilance and prompt action to ensure the safety and security of individuals, particularly women, in public spaces.
