KARACHI: Several people have gathered in a crowd outside the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Korangi office for the Prime Miniter’s Ehsaas ration distribution despite Section 144 imposed in the city.
Citizens who registered for the ration through social media were advised earlier that if they face any issue regarding the registration; they should inform at the DC office. In this regard, several gathered in front of DC’s offices in six districts of Karachi.
As per medical experts, people are advised to keep a distance of at least 4 to 5 feet from each other so the coronavirus can be prevented from transmitting to each other, but people outside the DC office were gathered in-crowd, standing close to each other. The gathering started outside the Deputy Commissioner Korangi from Saturday and it continues from morning till evening.
On the other hand, the Sindh government did not allow any crowd in its ration distribution program, but the federal government’s ration distribution has made it difficult for the district administration to perform their task.
The government itself has imposed Section 144 across the country but on the other hand, it had called people to gather outside the district offices despite the lockdown imposed in the city.
