Cricketers extend heartiest wishes on Eid,urge to follow SOPs strictly

KARACHI: On the occasion of  Eidul Fitr today, the cricket fraternity while extending their heartiest wishes urged the nation to follow COVID-19-related SOPs.

Several cricketers including Waseem Akram, Misbah ul Haq, and Wahab Riaz, Imad Wasim and others sent out wishes to their followers.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a Twitter post said, “Our cricketers have some special Eid wishes and message for you #EidMubarak.”

Misbah Ul Haq said, “Wishing all the Muslims around the world a happy and peaceful #Eid. On this auspicious occasion, amid the joyful spirit, it’s of paramount importance to remember to stay safe during the global pandemic.”

Imad Wasim said, “EidMubarak. May Allah SWT be pleased with all our efforts and prayers during the blessed month of Ramadan. May Allah bless you all with endless happiness and prosperity. Please make Duas for the whole of the Muslim ummah especially our sisters and brothers of Palestine.”

The nation is celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today (Thursday) with religious zeal and fervor amidst strict COVID-19 measures.

Eid prayers were held at open places, in mosques and Eidgahs in all cities and towns with strict adherence to SOPs of social distancing and other precautionary measures to avoid the spread of the pandemic.

On the occasion, special prayers were offered for the well-being of the country while in sermons, the Ulema highlighted the significance of Eid-ul-Fitr. Prayers were also offered for the Muslims of Palestine and the Indians who illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir where people are being subjected to oppression and brutality.

It is a rare occasion that Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated on the same day across the country. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), China, Turkey, and Qatar, along with the rest of the Muslim world are also celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today.

As the nation observes Eid-ul-Fitr, Prime Minister Imran Khan urged the countrymen to strictly observe anti-COVID precautions and show compassion towards the poor while celebrating the festival.
