COVID-19 cases soar to 3,954 in Sindh

KARACHI: Sindh government health authorities have reported 274 fresh cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of patients in the province to 3,954.

On a social media website Twitter, Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Law Murtaza Wahab on Friday said, that provincial health authorities conducted 2,561 tests of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, out of which 274 comes positive. He said overall 35, 589 tests have been conducted till date.

The Advisor further said the number of the recovered patients in Sindh province now stands at 772 while, the death toll by coronavirus in Sindh has reached to 73.

Meanwhile, the provincial government has finalized standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Holy month of Ramadan.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that mosques will remain open and Taraweeh prayers will be offered as usual but only the staff, around four to five people, will be allowed to participate.

Taraweeh congregations at marriage halls and others open places in the province would be banned. Shopping centres and the malls would remain close and severe action would be taken against the violators. Only online business would be allowed in the province.

The businesses exempted from the COVID-19 lockdown would be permitted to do their business till 5:00 pm.
