KARACHI: The Anti Terrorism Court on Wednesday has returned Waseem Akhtar his passport to travel abroad.
Waseem Akhtar, the Mayor of Karachi city, is planning to travel to Dubai for meeting his family and Rauf Siddiqui submitted his plea for traveling to Saudi Arabia for the renewal of his work permit (Iqama).
It may be noted here that the court had conducted hearing of 12 May, 2007 chaos related cases a few days ago. The anti-terrorism court’s judge commented against Akhtar, saying that he did not do anything for the Karachi despite being mayor of the metropolis.
Later, the Court had issued a notification to Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar to surrender his passport to the court on September 21. It was after the court order, Mayor Waseem Akhtar, surrendered his passport to ATC.
However, on 25th September, The ATC returned the passports to Waseem Akhtar and Rauf Siddiqui after their respective pleas were accepted by the Anti-Terrorism Court.
