LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to extend lockdown till May 30 to limit the spread of the coronavirus in the province.
According to a notification issued by the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department on Sunday, the lockdown imposed throughout the province has been extended till May 30.
Certain services have been exempt from these restrictions including, medical services, pharmacies, courier and postal services, utility offices including electricity, gas, internet and cellular companies, petrol pumps, shops of essential goods and the food delivery service, as per the notification.
All public gatherings and social events will remain banned in districts where the coronavirus positivity ratio remains above 8%, read the notification.
Ban on indoor and outdoor dining in restaurants will have also been extended. However, takeaways and delivery services for restaurants have been allowed by the government, it added.

Offices will be allowed to reopen with a strict 50% work from home policy in place. Cinema halls will remain closed, and a complete ban will be imposed on all public gatherings, sports, and cultural events.
Transport services will be allowed to run with 50% capacity. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) death toll in Pakistan has reached 19,467 since the coronavirus outbreak.
As per details, 2,379 fresh coronavirus cases were reported in the last 24 hours with a 7.82 percent positivity rate. Of the total number of cases, 4,387 patients are in critical condition. The total number of infections in the country now currently stands at 874,751.
Meanwhile, 30,402 tests were conducted across the country during this period. 783, 480 people have recovered from the deadly disease while 12410924 samples have been tested thus far.
