Coronavirus: Death toll in China reaches 2,981

BEIJING: The Chinese state health committee said Wednesday that the number of deaths rose by 38 to bring the total mainland China death jumped to 2,981 by March 3.
Citing the details of confirmed cases state health committee said the total number of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on the mainland has now reached 80,270.

It detailed the state health authorities received information about 80,270 confirmed cases of infection with the new type of coronavirus, from 31 provinces.

The cases including 27,433 people who are currently sick (6,416 are in grave condition), 49,856 people were discharged from hospitals, 2,981 died, the committee said.

China’s Hubei province, the epicenter of the outbreak, reported 37 new deaths and 115 new types of coronavirus cases on Tuesday.
