Coronavirus claims three more lives in Sindh

KARACHI: The coronavirus has claimed three more lives during the last 24 hours in Sindh, bringing the total number to 2463 in the province.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement said that three more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 2463 in the province while 296 new cases emerged when 15211 tests were conducted.

CM Murad further said that 15211 samples were tested against which 296 cases were detected that constituted a 1.96 percent current detection rate.

Murad Ali Shah said 1,243,268 tests have been conducted which detected 134243 cases that came to an 11 percent overall detection rate.

The CM said 87 patients recovered in the last 24 hours and the number of patients recovered so far has reached 128,494 that came to a 96 percent recovery rate.

At present, 3286 patients are under treatment, of the 2930 in-home isolation, five at isolation centers and 351 at different hospitals. The condition of 175 patients was stated to be critical, including 20 shifted to ventilators.

Syed Murad Ali Shah said that out of 296 new cases, 143 have been detected from Karachi, including 50 from East, 42 Central, 26 South, 11 Malir, eight West and six Korangi.

The chief minister added that Badin has 25 cases, Hyderabad five, Matiari four, Shikarpur three, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Umerkot two each, Dadu, Jacobabad, Larkana and Sukkur one each.

The chief minister urged the people of Sindh to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), otherwise, the government would not be able to contain the pandemic.

At least 633 people have been infected and four have lost their lives in Pakistan due to the coronavirus.

According to the latest figures released by the National Command and Operations Center, the number of active cases of coronavirus in the country has risen to 7,065 and 292,869 patients have recovered.

The coronavirus has killed 965,068 people worldwide and infected 31,240,262.

Around the world, 22,835,459 people infected with the coronavirus have recovered and the number of active cases has come down to 7,439,735. The United States ranks first among countries infected with the coronavirus, with 241,188 deaths and more than 740,000 people diagnosed with the virus.

India ranks second in the world in terms of corona cases where the total number of corona cases has increased from 5.485 million. The total number of deaths from corona in India has reached 87,909.
