ISLAMABAD: A further 54 people have lost their lives in Pakistan due to the coronavirus and the total number of deaths has risen to 11,157.
According to the National Command and Control Center, 2,363 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in 24 hours and the total number of affected people has reached 527,146. In the country, 4,80,696 people have recovered and the number of active patients is 35,293.
The number of coronavirus cases is 40,430 in Islamabad, 64,373 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 238,470 in Sindh, 151,603 in Punjab, 18,670 in Balochistan, 8,706 in Azad Kashmir, and 4 in Gilgit-Baltistan. A total of 894 people have been infected with the coronavirus.
The highest number of deaths due to coronavirus was in Punjab where 4,501 people lost their lives while 3,843 in Sindh, 1,811 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 460 in Islamabad, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 192 in Balochistan and 248 people have lost their lives in Azad Kashmir.
The first 50,000 cases came to light in 86 days and the last 50,000 cases in just 22 days. The first case of coronavirus in Pakistan came to light on February 26, while the first death from coronavirus was reported on March 18.
The National Institutes of Health has confirmed a new strain of coronavirus in Pakistan. According to the National Institutes of Health, a new strain of coronavirus was found in two Pakistanis, both returned home from the UK. Punjab Health Minister Yasmeen Rashid said that four suspicious patients of the new type of coronavirus are from Lahore, all four have been tested and sent to NIH.
