Cop shot dead in New Karachi’s industrial area

KARACHI: A policeman was shot dead during an encounter with robbers in New Karachi’s industrial late Tuesday night.
Police sources said that the policeman signaled two men riding a motorcycle to stop. However, the suspects accelerated and opened fire on the policeman. As a result, a 38-year-old police constable, Irfan suffered severe bullet injuries and died on the spot.
The police sources further stated the incident took place in New Karachi’s industrial where the police constable was deployed to search suspicious vehicles.
The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. The attackers managed to escape from the scene.

On 5th January, a police constable was killed by unknown armed men in Islamabad. The officials had said that following a tip-off about the presence of outlaws at a house located in the Soan Garden area of Islamabad, constable Ishaq along with a police party had arrived in the area.
The police party had cordoned off the area and constable Ishaq along with other policemen entered the house and took a suspect into custody.
When the police officials were coming out of the house, the detained suspect’s accomplices had opened fire on them and had got released the suspect. Soon after the injured cop was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment however he succumbed to his injuries.
