ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Finance Ayesha Ghous Pasha has said that controlling inflation in the upcoming budget is the biggest challenge.
Pasha said in a statement that it will take several more months to fix the deterioration of the economy. “The future budget cannot be tax-free, if the tax revenue is not increased, the deficit will become uncontrollable,” she said.
He said, “Pakistan is in the program of the IMF, and as a nation, we have to follow the same path now, he is hopeful for the completion of the ninth review.”
Pasha said that the prime minister’s talks with the IMF are likely to yield positive results, the situation will improve after the staff level agreement, and controlling inflation in the upcoming budget is the biggest challenge.
