LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar has ordered a crackdown against the kite flying across Punjab.
The chief minister issued a notice in which he ordered the provincial IGP and authorities to launch a crackdown against the accusers involved in violating the notice.
The authorities have been ordered to strictly follow the orders given by Usman Buzdar in this regard.
The Basant festival was banned across Punjab two years ago due to deaths and serious injuries caused by flying kites, it’s sharp glass and the chemical coated strings of kites.
At least 4091 people have arrested in different parts of Lahore for violating the kite-flying ban.
Moreover, police arrested 70 people in Faisalabad for flying kites in the city despite a ban.
Faisalabad SHO, Ali said that the Faisalabad police started a campaign against kite flying in the city, which treats human lives that take place due to the exercise of the activity.
He said that several people sustained injuries or killed every year during the Basant festival, added that despite the ban, residents were indulged in flying kites.
