The central Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) will start from Nishtar Park in Karachi on Friday, August 15.
Chehlum is observed to commemorate the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala. Religious gatherings and processions are expected throughout the province.
The central Chehlum procession will pass along MA Jinnah Road and conclude at the Hussainia Iranian Imambargah.
On the occasion of Chehlum, MA Jinnah Road will remain closed from Guru Mandir to Tower for security reasons.
Due to the procession, the administration has announced alternative routes for those coming from District Central. According to the plan, traffic coming from Nazimabad will proceed from Lasbela Chowk towards Nishtar Road and Garden.
Those coming from Liaquatabad will be diverted from Teen Hatti to Lasbela or towards Central Jail via Martin Road, while vehicles heading from Hassan Square to Peoples Chowrangi will use the Jail Flyover or Kashmir Road.
It is worth mentioning that the Sindh government has announced a public holiday on Friday, August 15, in observance of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
According to a notification issued by the Sindh Education Department, all public and private educational institutions across the province will remain closed on that day.
