CDWP approves four projects worth Rs6.8bn

ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved four projects worth Rs6.8 billion and recommended one project worth RS43.32 billion rupees to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) for further consideration.

The approval was given at a meeting in Islamabad chaired by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan. Three of the approved projects are related to IT sector while one is of energy.

The meeting approved the 16 MW Hydro Power Project Naltar-III, Gilgit worth Rs6.199 million. The object of the project is to construct 16MW Hydropower project to transmit energy to Gilgit through the existing 66kV transmission line of Naltar-V for meeting the power requirements of Gilgit town and surrounding areas.

It also approved three projects related to information technology presented in the meeting. This includes ‘Establishing of Jiddat Investment and Support Fund’ worth Rs84.2 million rupees and ‘Feasibility study and consultancy for Development of Special Technology Zones’ costing Rs165 million

Furthermore, the ‘High Impact Skills Boot Camp’ project worth Rs420.11 million was also present. The CDWP approved all three IT-related projects.

Ministry of Communications presented the Sialkot- Kharian Motorway project worth 43.328 billion rupees that was referred by the committee to ECNEC for further consideration.

The project envisages the construction of 69 kilometre four-lane Sambial-Kharian Motorway with structures to be constructed for six lanes. It will have divided controlled access with a 0.6-metre barrier as median and having right of way for 100 metres.
