ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has deferred its operation against illegal encroachments in the federal capital after facing stiff resistance from the occupants.
The CDA’s Enforcement Department had launched an operation against illegal encroachments in Neeelum in Frash Town but only managed to remove four houses and nine under-construction structures.
The large-scale operation was overseen by Assistant Commissioner Secretariat. The CDA moved in with heavy machinery to remove the encroachments from public lands but faced stiff resistance and protests by local residents.
The CDA was forced to suspend the operation after facing resistance. CDA Enforcement team said the operation has been halted but vowed that this will return with even greater force and take action against the encroachers.
An operation has also launched in Punj Giran and Jagiot located in the outskirts of the federal capital. The residents have illegally built houses on public lands allegedly in connivance with local authorities who have allotted numbers but no action has been taken against them.
