ISLAMABAD: The PTI-led federal government has allocated billions in the budget 2020-21 for multiple projects in Karachi.
According to the budget documents, the incumbent government has allocated Rs 7.95 billion for the intelligent transport system under construction in the metropolis.
A sum of Rs 3 billion was allocated for the Green Line bus project and over Rs 2.357 billion earmarked for the Greater Karachi water supply scheme. The federal government also earmarked Rs440 million for the road construction on the Malir Dam.
“Rs 650 million and Rs 350 million were allocated, respectively, for the construction of the Mangophir-Banaras and Nishtar-Mangohpir roads,” the documents added.
Additionally, a sum of Rs 384 million was allocated for reinstating the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) firefighting system. “Rs500 million allocated for the construction on interchange on the Malir Link Road,” it added.
The documents further revealed that Rs 217.9 million were allotted to the construction of water and drainage line and roads in Karachi’s East district, whereas Rs 623 million and Rs 120.74 million was allocated for the same project in the Korangi and Central districts, respectively.
