GENEVA: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the international community has come together in solidarity to stand beside Pakistan, a country that faced an epic natural disaster.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of Conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan, Bilawal said “we will need considerable support” from the international community,” and sought solidarity to help the country achieve a “resilient” future for Pakistan.
The FM said that rehabilitation “continues to this day” as Pakistan battles with wide-scale destruction brought on by the environmental catastrophe.

He said “we see this conference as a long term partnership that will generate sustained support, and building resilient Infrastructure after flood is top priority.” He further said that Pakistan confronted a monumental challenge, and half the rebuilding framework would be financed with the country’s own money.

It is pertinent to mention here that more than $16 billion is needed to help Pakistan recover from devastating floods that submerged a third of the country last year, and to better resist the impact of climate change.
